Pre-seed
The earliest priced or uncapped funding round.
Definition
Pre-seed is the first outside capital a startup raises, often before there is meaningful revenue or product. Founders use it to build an initial team, ship a first version, and gather early signal. Rounds are usually small and led by angels, scouts, or early-stage funds, and are often raised on a SAFE or convertible note.
